Number 14 – Intellectual disability befriending programme

For several weeks I have been in the application process for joining a befriending programme for people with intellectual disabilities, and finally yesterday I met the lady I will be working with, my new friend Gail.

The idea of the programme is that they facilitate the setting up of a friendship between a volunteer and a person with an intellectual disability, and then you become friends and meet up every week or so and just hang out together and do stuff friends do. I am very excited about it, as I moved here not long ago and do not have that many acquaintances, so it is really nice to have a new friend.
